Comperes will be located in the Volunteers Module in 2020. This is the same as 2019. Previously, comperes were located in the Artists Module. And of course, before that, comperes were run without Marcato.
Comperes work really well in the volunteer module because this module was created to handle individuals that need to be scheduled on shifts. However, we do not run comperes through the generic volunteers process. Comperes require a special process because they need to apply, be assessed, and then accepted or declined.
In 2020 we have changed how volunteers are ticketed. This is a positive change, but it will force us to tweak the compere process slightly. The tweak is that we can't apply credentials to any comperes until they are locked into their role. Otherwise, the credentials will be approved before the compere is, so the compere will be emailed a free entry ticket! We obviously want to avoid this.
Compere applications should open around mid January, same time as early bird opens. There is no close date advertised to ensure we receive enough applications to fill the schedule.
We are building a (hopefully!) robust process that can take multiple input streams and be easy to use for all involved. Below I'll describe how this will work for the different input streams.
This is a compere who has not been with us before, a brand new application!
