What is Marcato?

Marcato has some general project functionality, including

• calendars
• files
• messaging/posts
• notifications
• tasks
• tags

These are explored in more detail in the pages linked below. There are also many functions of Marcato that run throughout the system which I will also cover below. However, it can be helpful to think about Marcato in terms of 'modules', or discreet areas within the system that function in different ways. Please be aware that depending on your access settings, you may be unable to see many of these modules from your account. If you require access to a module you are always welcome to request it.

We don't really use the Media module at all (writing in Dec 2019). This may change in future years, but for the moment this module is empty and untouched. You can explore the Marcato Support board for more info if you want to!

In my¹⁾ opinion, the place where Marcato really begins to get interesting is in exploring the functions it has. Many of these functions run across the entire system, whereas others are only able to work with a particular module. 'Credentials' is one that works across the whole system, allowing us to build an internal ticketing system with online payments. 'Contracts' is a function that only works with the Artist module.

The reporting section can be really overwhelming and hard to understand. To build good reports you really need to have a thorough understanding about how the database was built to function. … more words here …
